FR Score

Concept2 was founded in 1976 by brothers Dick and Peter Dreissigacker, who began making carbon-fiber racing oars after training for the US Olympic rowing trials and set up shop on a converted dairy farm in Vermont. The company is based in Morrisville, Vermont, and in January 2025 its ownership passed to the Concept2 Perpetual Purpose Trust, which is meant to keep the business run by its employees in line with the founders' mission.

Concept2 launched its first indoor rower, the Model A, in 1981. Its air-resistance RowErg is a common sight in gyms, boathouses and training centers and is used in indoor rowing competitions. The lineup also includes the SkiErg, the BikeErg, the StrengthErg introduced in 2025, and rowing oars. The RowErg, SkiErg and BikeErg share the same performance monitor and work with the free ErgData app and Concept2's online logbook. Concept2 sells direct in the US and Canada and through international distributors elsewhere.

Testing & quality

The RowErg is covered for five years on frame parts and two years on moving parts and the monitor, and factory-direct buyers in the US and Canada get a 30-day money-back guarantee.
