Crossrope was created by Dave Hunt, who discovered weighted jump ropes in 2008 while deployed to Djibouti during his naval career. After a weightlifting injury, he used his recovery time to design a better rope and built the first Crossrope prototype in May 2012, which the company treats as its start. Its first professionally manufactured interchangeable system, originally called the Infinity Rope System, followed in December 2013. Crossrope is headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, and also has an office in Toronto.

The company sells weighted jump rope sets built around interchangeable handles and clip-on ropes of different weights, along with Bluetooth-connected AMP handles, ropeless attachments, jump mats and accessories. The sets pair with the Crossrope app, which offers guided workouts, programs and activity tracking through a paid membership. Crossrope sells through its own website as well as other retailers.

Testing & quality

Non-Bluetooth handles (2020 models and newer) carry a limited lifetime warranty; AMP handles get lifetime coverage on non-electronic parts and one year on the battery and electronics, while ropes and ropeless attachments are treated as wear items and aren't covered. Purchases come with a 60-day return guarantee.
