Nuun is a hydration brand founded in Seattle, Washington, in 2004. The company says it began as the first to separate electrolyte replacement from carbohydrates, the idea behind its fizzy, dissolvable drink tablets. Nestlé Health Science agreed to acquire Nuun in 2021, and the brand, operated by Nuun & Company, Inc., remains based in Seattle. Nuun also describes itself as a Certified B Corporation.
Nuun has a strong presence in running, cycling, outdoor and natural-foods stores. Its range centers on effervescent tablets, including Nuun Sport, Sport +Caffeine, Zero Sugar, Vitamins, Immunity and Energy, along with Nuun Sport powders. Nestlé says the brand is sold in more than 5,000 U.S. outlets and in over 30 countries. Nuun says most of its products are made in U.S. facilities and that they carry Non-GMO Project, vegan and gluten-free certifications.
Testing & quality
Nuun's FAQ says its tablets and Nuun Instant are Informed Choice certified and its Podium Series is Informed Sport certified, but Informed Choice's own listings show Nuun Hydration Sport and Sport + Caffeine were voluntarily withdrawn from the program on 24 December 2024. Nuun says most products are made in U.S. facilities.
