THERABAND resistance bands were introduced in 1978 by The Hygenic Corporation of Akron, Ohio, a rubber manufacturer that had made dental products since the 1920s; the brand says it was created by two clinicians to help patients recover. Hygenic later grew through acquisitions into Performance Health, which sells THERABAND alongside its other rehabilitation brands, and theraband.com still lists an Akron address.
THERABAND is closely tied to physical therapy: its color-coded Trusted Progression System steps resistance up across seven levels, and the range includes latex and non-latex bands, tubing, band loops, CLX bands with built-in loops and high-resistance bands. The brand says its products are designed and engineered in the USA. It sells to clinics through distributors and to consumers through retailers, including a THERABAND store on Amazon.
Testing & quality
THERABAND says its products go through pull-force testing and product validation, and it cites independent pull-force and cycle testing of its non-latex bands by an ISO 17025-accredited (A2LA) laboratory.
