Vital Proteins is a collagen-focused nutrition brand founded in 2013 by Kurt Seidensticker, an avid runner who had been dealing with knee pain that set back his training. Nestlé Health Science agreed to buy a majority stake in June 2020, when the company was based in Chicago, and the brand is now run by Nestlé HealthCare Nutrition, Inc. Its mailing address is in Franklin Park, Illinois.

The brand is known for Collagen Peptides powder made from pasture-raised bovine hides, and its range extends to flavored collagen, whey-plus-collagen protein, collagen blends with creatine or added vitamins, and collagen beverages and bars. At the time of the Nestlé deal it was sold in about 35,000 retail doors in North America and Europe, including Whole Foods, Costco, Target, Walgreens and Kroger, as well as online. Vital Proteins says its manufacturing facility is an NSF-certified cGMP facility, and NSF's Certified for Sport database lists several of its products.
