WalkingPad is the folding-treadmill brand of KingSmith (Beijing KingSmith Technology Co., Ltd.), a company headquartered in Beijing. KingSmith says the idea began in 2014, when four graduate students started developing a foldable walking pad in a lab, and that the company was established in 2015, when it also registered the WalkingPad trademark. It has overseas branches in the United States, Germany and South Korea and says its products are sold in more than 90 countries.

The first model, the WalkingPad A1, reached mass production in 2018. KingSmith holds patents on its folding running deck and on FootSense, an automatic speed control that speeds up or slows down depending on where the user stands on the belt. The range now spans under-desk walking pads, 2-in-1 models with fold-down handrails, vertically folding treadmills such as the X21, tri-fold rowers and weight benches. WalkingPad sells through its own website and retailers such as Costco.
