FR Score

WHOOP was founded in 2012 by Will Ahmed, a former college athlete who still leads the company as CEO, and is headquartered in Boston. The privately held company says it ships to 56 countries and operates in six languages.

WHOOP sells its screenless wrist-worn sensor only as part of a membership rather than as a one-off purchase. Members choose between the One and Peak tiers, which include the WHOOP 5.0 device, and the Life tier, which includes the WHOOP MG; all tiers score sleep, strain and recovery, while higher tiers add features such as a stress monitor, an ECG-based heart screener and blood pressure insights. The company also offers blood-biomarker testing through WHOOP Advanced Labs, syncs workouts with Strava, and sells memberships through whoop.com and selected retail stores.

Testing & quality

WHOOP warrants the device supplied with a membership against defects in materials and workmanship for as long as the membership remains active and paid up, and replaces defective devices at no additional charge.
