Nike traces its origin to January 1964, when Phil Knight and his former coach Bill Bowerman shook hands in Portland, Oregon, to start Blue Ribbon Sports; the company now known as NIKE, Inc. was incorporated in 1967. It is headquartered in Beaverton, Oregon, sells products under the Nike, Jordan and Converse brands, and is listed on the New York Stock Exchange.
For gym training, Nike's main cross-training shoe is the Metcon, now in its tenth version, joined by the Free Metcon, MC Trainer and Reax trainers and the Romaleos and Savaleos weightlifting shoes. Nearly all of Nike's products are made by independent contract manufacturers outside the United States, and the company sells through its own stores, website and apps as well as wholesale retail partners.
Testing & quality
Nike accepts most returns within 60 days, and if a shoe develops a material or workmanship flaw within two years of the manufacture date on its tag, Nike will inspect it and make it right if it finds a defect.
