The verdict
The Metcon 10 is built for the CrossFit box: a Hyperlift heel plate for heavy lifts, rope-climb rubber, a handstand-friendly heel clip and lighter ReactX foam. Reviewers call it a clear step forward from the Metcon 9, though it fits snug and isn't the most versatile shoe here.

Overview
The Metcon 10 is the tenth version of Nike's cross-training icon, and Nike says it's lighter than the Metcon 9 with more energy return. An ultra-strong Hyperlift plate under the heel stabilizes squats, deadlifts and cleans, while a ReactX foam midsole adds responsiveness for jumps and conditioning. Nike widened the toe box compared with the Metcon 9, retuned the midsole rubber wrap for rope climbs and kept a tough plastic heel clip for handstand push-ups. It sells for $155 at Nike, which notes that it fits small and recommends ordering a half size up.
What reviewers say
That Fit Friend rated it 4.4 out of 5 and called it a step in a good direction: stable for lifting, with an athletic-feeling upper and good arch support. He measured a 4mm drop and 11.8 ounces in a size 10, but warned that it still hasn't fixed everything from the Metcon 9. The toe box still tapers despite the wider claim, heel slip can creep in, it isn't flat-foot friendly and it's not a great all-day shoe. As Many Reviews As Possible framed the Metcon 10 as a comeback for the line, and That Fit Friend's head-to-head with the Dropset 4 is worth a watch if you're choosing between the two.
Who it's for
CrossFit athletes and functional-fitness regulars who do lots of rope climbs, handstand work and barbell cycling, and who have medium-width feet.
Bottom line
The Metcon 10 is the best Metcon in years and an excellent CrossFit tool. Check Nike's sizing advice, try it on if you have wide or flat feet, and look elsewhere for an everyday do-everything shoe.
