Orgain was founded in 2009 in California by Dr. Andrew Abraham, a physician and cancer survivor who left his practice to develop nutrition products, and it is headquartered in Irvine, California. Nestlé Health Science acquired a majority stake in 2022 from Abraham and private equity firm Butterfly Equity, both of which kept minority holdings.
Orgain is known for organic, plant-based protein powders and ready-to-drink nutrition shakes, and its range also includes collagen, creatine, protein bars and kids' shakes and powders. It sells through its own website and through retailers. The company says it uses organic ingredients and seeks USDA Organic certification whenever possible; its plant-based Organic Protein powder is labeled USDA Organic, vegan and non-GMO. Orgain also appears on Informed Choice's list of certified brands, a certification that applies to specific products rather than the whole range.
