Overview
Orgain Organic Protein is everywhere, from Amazon to warehouse clubs and TikTok Shop. Two scoops (46 g) deliver 21 g of protein from organic pea, brown rice, mung bean and chia, plus 7 g of fiber, less than 1 g of sugar and 150 calories. It is USDA Organic, vegan and gluten-free, and it is sweetened with stevia. Orgain's current Amazon listing says it is made without erythritol, which older formulas used.
What reviewers say
Everyday reviewers consistently call it one of the better-tasting plant proteins, especially blended into smoothies, and like its thick, creamy texture. Not everyone agrees: a Garage Gym Reviews tester said the Vanilla Bean tasted like grass with a hint of vanilla. Other knocks include a two-scoop serving that empties the tub fast and a gum-heavy ingredient list. The bigger issue is contaminants. In Consumer Reports' October 2025 tests, the Vanilla Bean flavor measured 143% of CR's daily lead level of concern per serving, earning an OK-to-eat-occasionally rating of about four to five servings a week. That is far better than several plant rivals CR tested, but it is not a daily-driver result.
Who it's for
Vegans and dairy-avoiders who want an easy, organic smoothie booster and plan to use it a few times a week rather than several times a day. It also works well in baking and oatmeal, where its thick texture is an advantage.
Bottom line
Great availability and good taste for a plant protein at about $1.60 per serving, but lower protein density and CR's lead finding keep it from ranking higher.
