The verdict

The Outwork is NOBULL's original strength-training sneaker, and its appeal hasn't changed: a low, flat 4mm-drop platform, a grippy carbon rubber outsole and a tough SuperFabric upper that reviewers say lasts for years. It's firm and light on cushioning, so it suits lifters far better than runners.

Full review

Overview

NOBULL calls the Outwork its original strength-training sneaker, and the design has barely changed in about a decade. It sits low to the ground on a Phylon EVA midsole with a 15mm heel and 11mm forefoot stack, a minimal 4mm drop and a molded anatomical insole. A high-traction carbon rubber outsole with a circular tread pattern grips gym floors and lifting platforms, and the upper uses NOBULL's abrasion-resistant SuperFabric with a durable water-repellent coating. NOBULL lists the men's weight at 11.1 ounces (size 10.5), and core colorways cost $150.

What reviewers say

Reviewers consistently single out durability. That Fit Friend notes the Outwork has stayed essentially unchanged for about nine years while other lines evolved, and highlights the SuperFabric construction and its longevity. Live Lean TV wore a pair for three months and walks through comfort, breathability, durability and sizing, including how it compares with the Reebok Nano and Nike Metcon. Wyatt Butters found it durable and stable for squats and deadlifts. The trade-offs are a thin, firm midsole that isn't made for running or high-impact conditioning, and a price that feels steep for such a simple shoe. Wide-footed buyers may want to size up a half.

Who it's for

Lifters and strength-focused gym-goers who want a flat, stable, grippy shoe that survives years of abuse, and who like NOBULL's clean look in and out of the gym.

Bottom line

If durability and ground feel matter more to you than cushioning, the Outwork is a buy-it-once trainer. Pair it with a cushioned shoe for conditioning-heavy days, and let the Outwork handle your strength sessions.

Frequently asked questions

How does the NOBULL Outwork fit?
That Fit Friend recommends going true to size, and sizing up a half if you have wide feet.
