The verdict

The Amazfit Active 2 delivers features you'd expect on a far pricier watch, including offline maps with turn-by-turn directions, a bright AMOLED screen and up to 10 days of battery, for about $100 with no subscription. Reviewers rave about the value, though its accuracy isn't flawless for serious training.

Full review

Overview

The Active 2 is Amazfit's mainstream smartwatch, launched in early 2025 at $99.99 for the standard model (the Premium version adds sapphire glass and a leather strap for $129.99). It packs a 1.32-inch AMOLED display into a stainless steel case, along with Amazfit's BioTracker heart-rate and sleep sensor, GPS across five satellite systems, free downloadable maps with turn-by-turn guidance, a barometer, 5 ATM water resistance and more than 160 sport modes, including HYROX Race and strength training. Battery life is rated at up to 10 days of typical use, and the Zepp app has no mandatory subscription. Amazfit has since added the pricier Active 3 Premium, but the Active 2 remains its value pick.

What reviewers say

TechRadar called it a triumph for inexpensive wearables, praising its extensive feature set, accurate health tracking and classic design for the money. DesFit's in-depth review and The Quantified Scientist's long-term scientific review both dig deep into heart-rate, sleep and GPS accuracy. Not every tester came away satisfied: davidzof, who used it for a month of skiing, running and cycling, documented heart-rate and GPS issues that could matter to data-driven athletes. The consensus is that it's remarkable value for everyday fitness, with some compromises for serious training.

Who it's for

Budget-conscious runners, gym-goers and HYROX fans who want a real sports watch with maps and long battery life, and anyone who refuses to pay a monthly fee for their own data.

Bottom line

For about $100, it's hard to beat the Active 2's feature list. Serious racers may want a Garmin, but for everyone else it's the easy budget pick.

Frequently asked questions

Does the Amazfit Active 2 require a subscription?
No. Amazfit's Zepp app has no mandatory subscription, so maps, sport modes, sleep tracking and health data are included with the watch.
What's the difference between the Active 2 and Active 2 Premium?
The Premium edition ($129.99) upgrades to sapphire glass and ships with a leather strap in addition to a sport strap. The core sensors, maps and 10-day battery rating are shared with the $99.99 standard model.
Is the Active 2 good for HYROX and strength training?
It includes dedicated HYROX Race and strength-training modes among its 160-plus sport profiles. As with any wrist-based tracker, heart-rate readings during lifting are less reliable than a chest strap.
