OuraRing 5

Overview

Oura's fifth-generation ring, launched in May 2026, is all about size. Oura says it's 40% smaller than Ring 4, with an all-titanium build that's 2.28mm thick, weighs from 2 grams and is waterproof to 100 meters. Red, green and infrared LEDs handle heart rate, HRV, respiration and blood oxygen, alongside a temperature sensor and an accelerometer, and Oura tracks more than 50 health metrics across sleep, activity, stress, heart health and women's health. Battery life is rated at 6 to 9 days. The ring costs $399 in Silver or Black ($499 for premium finishes), and full insights require a $5.99-per-month membership after the first month.

What reviewers say

Reviewers consistently say the smaller size is an upgrade you feel every night. CNET's two-month test found it disappeared on the finger in the best possible way, and Trusted Reviews concluded that smart rings are finally ready for the mainstream. DC Rainmaker was more measured: he found it significantly smaller with slight accuracy gains for HRV and workouts, and measured about 6 to 7 days of real-world battery life, but called its sports tracking woefully behind watches and argued there's little reason to buy one if you already wear a watch or band to bed. Chase the Summit's one-month review similarly weighs the good against a few annoyances.

Who it's for

People who want detailed sleep and recovery insights without wearing anything on the wrist, and anyone who finds a watch uncomfortable overnight.

Bottom line

The best-known smart ring just got easier to live with. Budget for the membership, and pair it with a GPS watch if workouts are your priority.
